During the joint debate of the Second Committee of the 81st session of the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA81), the permanent representative of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela to this body in New York, Ambassador Coromoto Godoy, reaffirmed this Thursday that the eradication of hunger and poverty requires strengthening national production, guaranteeing social protection and deepening international cooperation.

Through a post on her social networks, the diplomat warned about the impact of unilateral coercive measures on food security and called for fairer and more inclusive global governance, with greater participation of developing countries.

In this context, he stressed that the Venezuela Alimenta Plan, as part of a new phase of rebirth, boosts the country's productive capacities.

“Today, 90% of the food consumed in the country and 99% of that destined for social programs come from domestic production. Our commitment is to move towards zero hunger, strengthen food care for Venezuelan families and ensure that no one is left behind,” said Godoy.

The ambassador also recalled the message of President Delcy Rodríguez, who stressed the importance of ensuring that “every family has a plate of food on the table, that every young person has an opportunity in their land and that every nation can look to the future with confidence.”

Godoy concluded his publication by stressing that the path to the eradication of hunger involves “cooperation, solidarity and the right of all peoples to decent food”.
