One day before the opening of the 9th China International Import Expo (CIIE), the national delegation met in Shanghai with businessmen who bring their exportable offer to the commercial stand in Venezuela.

The meeting served to define objectives, organize the registration of business meetings and coordinate work between institutions during the six days of the fair.

Participants included Andrea Corao Fanía, president of the Export Promotion Agency (Venexporta); José Gregorio Briceño, Deputy Minister of Fishery Processing and Distribution of the Ministry of Fisheries and Aquaculture; Atilio Villasmil, Consul General of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela in Shanghai; Marisela Velásquez, Governor of Nueva Esparta State; and Nerisa Colmenares , director of International Fairs at the Ministry of Fisheries and Aquaculture.

Deputy Minister Briceño, head of the delegation, said that “this is a fair of absolute commercial interest” and that Venezuela's participation comes at a time of diversification of the national economy.

He explained that the scope of this work is not limited to the exporter, because it reaches the entire supply chain behind each product. “Every matchmaking, every B2B and every conversation counts. Each and every one of us must become a seller,” he said.

The president of Venexporta, Andrea Corao Fanía, presented the proposal to systematize the commercial information generated at the fair and stressed the importance of recording each meeting with buyers.

Lisbeth Rosales, from the Promotions Management, explained the form that the teams will use to collect each meeting, the purchase intentions and the preliminary agreements.

Governor Marisela Velásquez conveyed the greetings of President Delcy Rodríguez Gómez and highlighted what Nueva Esparta offers for export, starting with fishing, in addition to agriculture and minerals such as magnesite.

It also reported that eight investors are developing tourism projects on the islands of Margarita, Cubagua and Coche.

For her part, Nerisa Colmenares called on the teams to join forces “so that Venezuela leaves its name high”.

Venezuela has participated in the CIIE since its first edition: six times in person and three times in virtual format. This is the second time it has done so in the agro-industrial pavilion, with 42 companies from 15 states at stand 8.2C3-04 in Hall 8.2.
