The Minister of People's Power for Foreign Affairs, Yván Gil, held a meeting this Friday with his counterpart from the Republic of Tunisia, Nabil Ammar, within the framework of the XIX Summit of Heads of State and Government of the Movement of Non-Aligned Countries (MNOAL), which takes place in Kampala, Republic of Uganda.

During the meeting, both diplomats reviewed the bilateral cooperation agreements that these nations specify. They also reviewed the work agenda and the road map established during the visit of the Deputy Minister for Africa, Yuri Pimentel, in October 2023; which were designed to strengthen cooperation in areas of common interest to peoples.

In addition, the Venezuelan side presented, on that occasion, draft agreements that will make it possible to further strengthen cooperation, with the prospect of holding the First Tunisia-Venezuela Joint Commission during 2024.

Diplomatic relations between Venezuela and Tunisia, which date back to March 26, 1965, are strengthened with the signing of cooperation instruments, such as agreements, programs and memorandums of understanding, in the areas of culture, the abolition of visas for holders of diplomatic passports and sports, among others.

Caracas and Tunisia agree on the need to support the Palestinian cause and to denounce in multilateral spaces the genocide being perpetrated by the Zionist government of Israel in Gaza, with the sponsorship of the West.

In addition, they participate in common spaces such as the Group of Friends in Defense of the UN Charter, Mnoal, G77+China and the UN Decolonization Committee.
