The Tunisian Minister of Agriculture, Water Resources and Marine Fisheries, Ezzedine Ben Cheikh, met in his office with the Venezuelan ambassador to the African country, Reinaldo Bolívar, with whom he discussed the prospects for achieving joint cooperation goals in agriculture and water resources.
The parties considered that it is important that experts, both from Venezuela and Tunisia, can work together to develop a legal framework for the implementation of bilateral cooperation programs, in the field of natural resource management, the promotion of scientific research results and the transfer of technologies adopted for the development of these sectors.
Ambassador Bolívar explained to the Tunisian Minister the rich semblance of natural resources in Venezuela, a country with abundant fresh water, maritime coasts and fertile land for cultivation, with a diversity of agricultural products that supply national consumption and, in some areas, surpluses are produced for export.
For his part, Minister Ben Cheikh highlighted the quality and competitiveness of Tunisian agricultural products, including olive oil and dates. He considered it very appropriate to make efforts to strengthen bilateral relations and promote the exchange of scientific experiences and mutual experiences for the benefit of field workers and of the two countries in general.
Both officials highlighted the agricultural vocation of their countries, which is the fundamental basis for a rapprochement, in related areas, between institutions that deal with vital issues in Venezuela and the Tunisian Ministry of Agriculture, Water Resources and Fisheries.
