The Minister of People's Power for Foreign Affairs, Yván Gil, led the event this Tuesday to commemorate the 50th Anniversary of Diplomatic Relations between Venezuela and the Democratic People's Republic of Korea, together with the chargé d'affaires of the Embassy of the Asian country in Caracas, Han Song Guk.

From the Casa Amarilla Antonio José de Sucre, in the Venezuelan capital, Foreign Minister Gil emphasized that 50 years of relations between the two nations are represented in two stages. “The first of simple recognition with practically no contact (...) and some 25 years since the arrival of the Bolivarian Revolution allowed us to approach each other from a political, diplomatic and strategic point of view.”

He highlighted “all the advances, the organization, the resistance demonstrated by this courageous people, who simply ask the world and nations to be able to have the freedom to chart and define their own destiny, framed in the construction of a political model in socialism”.

Gil said that, after 50 years, Venezuela and the Democratic People's Republic of Korea “found the same trench to fight aggressors and defend dignity today.”

“Count on Venezuela to build together that future of peace, tranquility and respect together with our allies, together with that world that today emerges with great powers,” emphasized the Foreign Minister.

For his part, Song Guk said that “these are 50 years of official relations, but the trajectory of brotherhood and solidarity of the peoples of the Democratic People's Republic of Korea and the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela dates back to the 1950s, 70 years ago, when the brother Venezuelan people raised their voices against aggression and the Korean war.”

He pointed out that after 10 years of the raising of the Venezuelan tricolor in Korean lands and the star in Caracas, different alliances have been achieved as a result of the intense work between the two nations through agreements, memorandums and high-level visits.
