In order to strengthen aspects of cooperation and joint work in the field of security and defense, the Venezuelan ambassador, Ayerim Flores Rivas, held a meeting with the Minister of Justice and Security of the Republic of Suriname, Harish Monorath.
During the meeting, Minister Monorath expressed his interest in advancing the exchange and training of at least 400 officials of the Ministry, specifically in the area of security and defense, as well as continuing training in learning the Spanish language, taking into account that the Spanish-speaking population in Suriname has grown considerably.
Specifically, more than 100 Ministry officials have been trained in the Spanish language through the Venezuelan Institute of Culture and Cooperation (IVCC), attached to the Venezuelan Diplomatic Mission in Paramaribo.
The minister responsible for security in Suriname emphasized that his country “is open to intense cooperation and to promote an alliance for the benefit of both peoples, following the commitment made during the official visit of President Delcy Rodríguez Gómez, last September.”
The meeting served to reaffirm the bonds of friendship and review strategic areas, in order to act and promote bilateral cooperation, in addition to paying special attention to the migratory situation of Venezuelan citizens in the country.
