The Minister for Foreign Affairs and International Trade of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela, Félix Plasencia González, and the Minister of State and Foreign Affairs of the Portuguese Republic, Paulo Rangel, spoke this Thursday about the bilateral relationship, in New York, United States, regarding the 81st session of the General Assembly of the United Nations (UN).

The Venezuelan Foreign Minister thanked the meeting and reaffirmed the willingness of the Bolivarian Government to keep channels of dialogue open and continue building a bilateral agenda of cooperation and mutual benefit.

“Venezuela and Portugal share historic ties of friendship, cooperation and a valuable Portuguese-Venezuelan community that deeply unites our peoples,” he said in a post on his social networks.

On August 10, Plasencia held a telephone conversation with Minister Rangel, in which they discussed commercial exchange and the importance of the Portuguese-Venezuelan community, while reiterating his gratitude for Portugal's solidarity after the double earthquake of last June 24.

Previously, on July 9, President Delcy Rodríguez held a working meeting with the Secretary of State for Portuguese Communities, Emídio Ferreira dos Santos Sousa, in which they discussed the agenda of technical assistance and bilateral cooperation following the seismic events.
