Venezuela and Mexico reaffirm ties of brotherhood in the National Pantheon for El Libertador Simón Bolívar

This Sunday, the 17th, representatives of the Embassy of Mexico in Venezuela paid tribute to El Libertador Simon Bolivar, in the National Pantheon, as part of the commemoration of the appointment of the Venezuelan hero as a Mexican citizen.

Speaking to Venezolana de Televisión, at the National Pantheon, where a plaque commemorating the aforementioned bicentenary was unveiled, the Undersecretary for Latin America and the Caribbean, Laura Carrillo, said that her delegation is honored to be in Venezuela.

On behalf of the Mexican president, Andrés Manuel López Obrador and his people, he expressed “greetings to the Bolivarian people for endorsing this brotherhood that has united us since the Liberator Simon Bolivar was with us, because what we inherited from him is still in force.”

For his part, the Foreign Minister of the Republic, Yván Gil, stressed that, on the date of the Bicentennial of El Libertador Simón Bolívar as a Mexican citizen, the commitment of two homelands was reaffirmed: the Venezuelan and the Mexican.

“We are very happy to commemorate the 200-year bicentennial cycle of that gesture of the Mexican Constituent Congress to grant nationality to our Liberator Simon Bolivar, who at that time was Colombian, president of Peru and Mexican, we have reiterated the commitment of two homelands, the construction of a route towards the construction of true independence,” he said.
