The Minister of People's Power for Foreign Affairs, Yván Gil, met this Thursday, in his office in Caracas, with the ambassador of the Islamic Republic of Iran accredited to the country, Hojjatolah Soltani, and “we continue to strengthen friendship” between the two nations.

“We meet to discuss joint projects and strategies in international affairs, always with the objective of protecting peace and sovereignty,” wrote the Chancellor on his account on the social network X @yvangil.

Minister Gil recently visited Tehran, where he paid honors at the funeral ceremony, on behalf of the head of state Nicolás Maduro and the Venezuelan people, to President Ebrahim Raisi, who tragically died in a helicopter accident, in which the Foreign Minister, Hossein Amir Abdollahian, and other authorities of the Persian nation also lost their lives.

“The strategic friendship between Iran and Venezuela is characterized by the values of solidarity, respect, peace and sovereignty, but above all by a unique brotherhood that President Raisi consolidated,” said the diplomat, in an interview during his visit to the Persian Gulf country.

In 73 years of diplomatic relations, Caracas and Tehran have strengthened brotherhood and cooperation, reaching a level of strategic alliance to date; for mutual development, with agreements signed in oil, petrochemical, gas, scientific, technological, agricultural, academic, commercial and cultural matters.
