The Minister of Popular Power for Foreign Affairs,
Yván Gil Pinto, received Tomás Gomes Barbosa, presidential
advisor of Guinea-Bissau, in his office on Tuesday, in order to review the lines of bilateral cooperation maintained by these nations.
During the meeting, which was also attended by the Deputy Minister
for Africa, Yuri Pimentel, the projects promoted by these
nations for the benefit of their peoples were evaluated and they reiterated the intention of their governments to increase cooperation relations.
In 2023, Caracas and Bissau celebrated the 17th anniversary of the
establishment of diplomatic relations, promoted by Commander Hugo
Chávez, with the installation of the First Joint Commission, aimed at strengthening
ties of brotherhood and bilateral cooperation; which concluded with the signing of 15
agreements in strategic areas, such as agriculture, public works, health,
politics, judiciary, mining and air and maritime transport, among others.
In that same year, the head of state Nicolás Maduro received
his counterpart from the African country, Umaro Sissoco
Embaló, at the Miraflores Palace, to lead the second meeting between the two leaders; the first being
the one that occurred in November 2022, which resulted in the signing of
a Joint Declaration that prioritizes strategic partnerships in economy,
oil, area connection, health and housing for joint development.
