Venezuela and Egypt celebrate 74 years of diplomatic relations

This Friday, November 15, marks the 74th anniversary of the official establishment of diplomatic relations between the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela and the Arab Republic of Egypt, strengthened since 1999, with the multipolar vision of the Supreme Leader of the Bolivarian Revolution, Commander Hugo Chávez.
With the political will of their governments, both nations have succeeded in making progress in areas of interest for mutual development and shared benefits for their peoples, with the signing of cooperation agreements in energy, trade, agriculture, food, culture and education, which have been under implementation since 2010, when the first Venezuela-Egypt Joint Commission was held, according to a press release from the Venezuelan Foreign Ministry.
On January 30, as part of the Bilateral Cultural Cooperation Agreement signed in 1981, the Minister of Popular Power for Culture, Ernesto Villegas, signed with his Egyptian counterpart, Nevin Al-Kilani, the Executive Program for Cultural Cooperation between Venezuela and Egypt 2024-2028.
Regarding the 79th session of the General Assembly of the United Nations (UN), which held its opening day last September in New York, the Minister of People's Power for Foreign Affairs, Yván Gil, and his counterpart from Egypt, Badr Abdelatty, held a meeting to reaffirm their commitment to continue expanding and strengthening the strategic alliance.
The President of the Republic, Nicolás Maduro, visited Egypt within the framework of COP27, which was held in Sharm El Sheilk, between November 6 and 18, 2022. Then, on November 6, 2023, Foreign Minister Gil arrived in the Arab nation to meet with the ministers of Agriculture, Petroleum and Mineral Resources, as well as with representatives of oil, gas and pharmaceutical companies. He also held a meeting with the Secretary General of the Arab League, Ahmed Aboul Gheit.
To celebrate the 75th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations, Egypt is the guest of honor for the Venezuela International Book Fair 2025, which will promote activities that contribute to the deepening of bonds of brotherhood and solidarity.
