The Venezuelan Minister for Fisheries and Aquaculture, Juan Carlos Loyo, met this Tuesday in Caracas with the ambassador of the Republic of Cuba, Dagoberto Rodríguez, to strengthen binational cooperation in the fishing and aquaculture sector.
Authorities and businessmen participated in the meeting, as part of the 2030 strategic agenda of the Bolivarian Alliance for the Peoples of Our America-Peoples' Trade Agreement (ALBA-TCP).
During his speech, the Venezuelan minister emphasized President Nicolás Maduro's instruction “to project ourselves within the framework of the Bolivarian Alliance for Peoples,” and noted that more than 35 Venezuelan companies from the fishing and aquaculture sector were present at the event.
For his part, the Cuban diplomat pointed out that, “despite the sanctions imposed on us, this is an extremely important sector, we are privileged to have a Caribbean Sea that unites us, which is full of wealth.”
At the XII Extraordinary Summit of Heads of State and Government of ALBA-TCP, it was agreed to launch the ALBA Azul project, as a joint fishing policy for food security, with a joint fishing fleet and a coordinated strategy for this sector.
