Venezuela and Colombia expect to exceed 1 billion dollars in trade in 2024

The Minister of Popular Power for Foreign Affairs,
Yván Gil, met this Monday with the vice-foreign minister of Colombia, Jorge Rojas
Rodríguez, who is visiting Caracas to strengthen ties of binational cooperation, mainly in economic matters.
The meeting was held at the Casa Amarilla Antonio José de
Sucre, in the Venezuelan capital, where Foreign Minister Gil explained that they analyzed “the
state of relations, especially the economic and commercial issue,
exchange, future projects”, in addition to reviewing “the entire
cooperation agenda that was relaunched after the assumption of power of president
(Gustavo) Petro and the recomposition of that of bilateral relations”.
He recalled that President Nicolás Maduro
recently ratified Venezuela's commitment to “continue advancing on this path of
strengthening exchange, which this year will surely exceed one billion
dollars. We continue to work so that
air exchange, land transport exchange and cultural exchange continue to grow.”
The Venezuelan diplomat reiterated the support, solidarity and
involvement of the Bolivarian Government in the tasks assigned within the
mechanisms for the discussion of peace processes in Colombian territory.
“We continue to make progress, we continue to assume the commitments
established by the two presidents, President Gustavo Petro, President
Nicolás Maduro, and we hope that, starting from this meeting, we will continue to push forward with
force the bilateral relationship,” he emphasized.
Meanwhile, Deputy Foreign Minister Rojas Rodríguez reported that the commercial
relationship between Venezuela and Colombia has already exceeded 800 million
dollars and that this year it will reach one billion dollars. “More than 1,500 cargo
trucks have crossed the border, Colombia's investment in Venezuela is
growing, we have potential throughout the border area,” he said.
He pointed out that “the good-neighborhood policy established
by President Petro's government is ongoing and with Venezuela, that our strategic
ally to advance integration and to strengthen the border,
is willing, together with Colombia, to activate all the mechanisms that we
have created and those that have been created before to strengthen our relationship.”
