Venezuela and China reaffirm their commitment to promote beneficial bilateral agreements

The Minister of People's Power for Foreign Affairs, Yván Gil, participated this Thursday in the inauguration of the authorities of the Federation of Chinese Associations, regarding the Celebration of the Chinese New Year.

In this regard, through his account on the social network X, the Foreign Minister celebrated the “solid alliance” that unites Venezuela and China, while specifying that it is framed in the commitment to promote mutually beneficial agreements for the development of both peoples.


“It is an honor to have participated with the distinguished diplomatic corps of China in the Celebration of the Chinese New Year and to accompany the members of the Federation of Chinese Associations of Venezuela in the inauguration ceremony of their authorities,” wrote the head of Venezuela's diplomatic portfolio.

Gil reiterated the willingness of the Bolivarian Government to advance “economic collaboration, cultural exchange and strengthening ties of friendship with the great power that China represents.”

On February 2, the Embassy of the People's Republic of China in Caracas held a protocol ceremony on the occasion of the commemoration of the most significant traditional festival of this Asian people, such as the Chinese New Year.

The Deputy Minister for Asia, the Middle East and Oceania, Tatiana Pugh, participated in the activity, who stressed that President Nicolás Maduro's visit to China, in 2023, is the ratification of the alliance “under all tests and at all times” between Caracas and Beijing, and reaffirmed the political will to continue building “this great friendship and this great brotherhood between the Chinese people and the Venezuelan people”.

Pugh thanked the Chinese authorities' solidarity with the Venezuelan people, “thank you for continuing to accompany us at every moment and at every step of this story that we are building together.”

For his part, Ambassador Lan Hu explained that “2024 is the Year of the Dragon, which in Chinese culture represents courage, strength and independence,” and in that sense, he assured that the Embassy will work to continue implementing the agreements signed between Presidents Xi Jinping and Nicolás Maduro to strengthen mutual communication and deepen cooperation.
