The Minister of People's Power for Foreign Affairs of Venezuela, Yván Gil, met this Wednesday with the vice-president of the National People's Assembly of China, Wu Weihua, in order to discuss “issues of shared interest” and explore “ways to strengthen integration between our institutions”.

From the headquarters of the Chinese People's Friendship Association with Foreigners (AAPCHE), in Beijing, the Venezuelan Foreign Minister stated that, on behalf of President Nicolás Maduro, he will continue to “advance in the consolidation of bilateral relations and friendship between China and Venezuela.”

Between September 12 and 14, 2023, President Maduro and his Chinese counterpart, Xi Jinping, signed 10 documents out of a total of 31 strategic cooperation agreements within the framework of the XVII High-Level Joint Commission (CMAN), which was held in the city of Beijing.

The strategic alliance prevailed “under every test and at all times” -as the Venezuelan president put it-, with the signing of instruments in the areas of economic and international development; digital economy; geology and mining; health; housing; aerospace, and telecommunications, among other areas.

Diplomatic relations between Caracas and Beijing will mark the 50th anniversary of their establishment on June 28.
