The President of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela, Nicolás Maduro, held a meeting this Friday with the delegation of the People's Republic of China, led by His Excellency Mr. Qiu Xiaoqi, at the Miraflores Palace, on the occasion of the 50th Anniversary of Bilateral Relations, and in order to continue strengthening cooperation and brotherhood between the two countries.

The meeting was also attended by the Executive Vice President of the Republic, Delcy Rodríguez; the Chancellor of the Republic, Yván Gil; and the first female combatant, Cilia Flores.

In this regard, the head of state emphasized in his social X account that “ diplomatic relations between China and Venezuela are increasingly strengthened, in brotherhood and fraternity, it is a sincere alliance for building a new and more humane world of peace. Today we celebrate with great happiness 50 years of a friendship that is unbreakable, under all tests and at all times. A big hug to my older brother President Xi Jingping and to all the Chinese people. China and Venezuela are always united.”

Since the arrival of Commander Hugo Chávez, these relations have been strengthened with the signing of more than 500 agreements. On September 13, 2023, four special economic zones were agreed, which address transport, energy, agriculture and technology , including twinning La Guaira with Shenzhen, the Carabobo state with Shanghai, and Shandong with the eastern states.

Earlier, the Chinese president, Xi Jinping, and the Venezuelan head of state, Nicolás Maduro, exchanged congratulations on the 50th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between the two countries. Xi said that, since the establishment of diplomatic relations half a century ago, the two sides have supported each other in the changing global landscape, working together to defend international equity and justice, as well as the legitimate rights and interests of developing countries, in addition to forging an “iron” friendship.

Last Sunday, the Minister of People's Power for Foreign Affairs, Yván Gil, said that diplomatic relations between Venezuela and China “are at their best. At every test and at all times”, which is the highest level of cooperation that few countries in the world have with the Asian power.
