As part of his work agenda in New York, during the 79th session of the General Assembly of the United Nations (UN), this Friday the Minister of People's Power for Foreign Affairs of Venezuela, Yván Gil, met with his counterpart from the Republic of Belarus, Maxim Ryzhenkov.

“We review opportunities for cooperation in the industrial sector and within the framework of the BRICS, as well as our commitment to defending sovereignty and fighting against interference in the internal affairs of States,” the Venezuelan Foreign Minister explained about the meeting through his Telegram channel.

Venezuela and Belarus officially established diplomatic relations on February 4, 1997 and acquired a higher level, two years later, with the beginning of the Bolivarian Revolution, led by Commander Hugo Chávez.

In December 2006, the Embassy of Caracas opened in Minsk, and in October 2007 the Diplomatic Mission of the European country opened its doors in the Venezuelan capital. Both countries have achieved a work agenda for the next 10 years, under the terms of high-level joint cooperation, according to a press release from the Venezuelan Foreign Ministry.
