The ambassadors of Venezuela and Algeria in Tunisia, Reinaldo Bolívar and Azzouz Baallal, respectively, held a courtesy meeting at the headquarters of the Algerian Embassy, in which they addressed issues related to the vision of both countries on the future of international relations with Africa.
The Venezuelan diplomat highlighted the momentous relations between Venezuela and Algeria, thanks to the impetus given by the then presidents Hugo Chávez and Abdelaziz Bouteflika, followers of the ideals of independence and freedom of Simon Bolivar and Emir Abdelkader.
The ambassadors discussed current politics in Africa, stressing the important process of multisectoral cooperation encouraged by the governments of Algeria, Tunisia and Libya in the key areas of border security, trade, transport, energy, groundwater management and investments and human exchanges, for which they have held two presidential summits, all in the spirit of the historic relations that unite the African Maghreb.
Bolívar praised this process and said that the Government of Venezuela has always been committed to the cooperation and unity of countries, which strengthens them to achieve the development objectives of peoples.
Algeria, Tunisia and Libya are border countries, they share a common ancient history in all areas, such as Arab culture, and they maintain lively friendly relations with Venezuela.
