Venezuela among the top three at the Pan-American Karate-Do Championship in Asunción

Venezuela achieved an outstanding participation in the Pan-American Karate-Do Championship in Asunción, Paraguay, in the cadet, junior, under-12 and under-14 categories.
The Criollos managed to win 5 gold medals, 6 silver and 14 bronze medals for a total of 25 medals, which allowed them to place third in the medal table.
The highest honors went to cadets Isabella Gutierrez (+61 kg), who beat American Mackenzie Mendonca in the final, and Luis Ruz (-70 kg).
In turn, Román Guainá established himself in the junior category -55 kg by beating Leonardo Nascimento from Brazil. Likewise, in the under-12, Andrés Pacheco (-45 kg) and Emilio Montana (-55 kg), relegated José Núñez from Panama and the Ecuadorian Sebastián Pullas to second place, respectively.
For their part, Andrea Moros and Enzo Quintana won the silver one on the cadet kata; while in the kumite, Sofía Rivero (-61 kg), Aarón Gascón (-63 kg) and José Colmenares (+70 kg) ranked third in their weights.
In the junior section, Osffell Tesorero (-76 kg) added one more silver to the Venezuelan conquests. Katherine Toro (-48 kg), Javierlys Hernández (-59 kg), Sebastián Márquez (-68 kg) caught bronze in the kumite, while kata specialists, Bryan Peña and Gianluca Greco, finished third.
The team kata category won a double bronze medal for Venezuela, thanks to the triplet formed by Salma Khattar, Analia Mendoza and Amelia Mendoza (female) and Enzo Quintana, José Abreu and Gabriel Estaba (male).
Finally, the Kumite under-12 athletes Danna Puerta (-37 kg/silver) Miranda Rivas (-42 kg/bronze), Armando Herrera (-35 kg/bronze), Derek Marquina (-45 kg/bronze) together with the under-14, Matías Sánchez (-50 kg/silver), Diego Rolo (+55 kg/silver) and Ángel Yajure (-55 kg/bronze) also contributed to the third place obtained by the Creole national team.
