The Venezuelan Valeria Dudamel won the silver medal with a total of 18,199 points in the debut of the ancient martial art of Wushu at the Dakar 2026 Olympic Games.

Dudamel won the first gold medal for Venezuela on African soil and the second he won in Dakar, after Rosalvick Aguilar's bronze in judo.

The Creole performed all her positions with the elegance and serenity required by this martial art debuting in the Olympic calendar, with her front leg fully stretched out for long lunges; she fully complied with the defensive and offensive techniques to handle the cane, cutting vertically with powerful and quick axes; she performed windmills, lashes and lunges without ever losing her balance; and crowned her performance with superb aerial turns to dominate the tapestry at will.

India's Chanu Rajkumari with a total of 18,039 points took third place in the overall standings, while the gold one went to Egypt's Sondol Sobos with 18,386 points.

“The approach I had, all the dedication and effort I put in together with my father and all those who support me gave me this result. I had to come out with everything in my hands free to win the medal and there's always the pressure to compete and make good moves. But everything worked out really well for me,” said Valeria Dudamel.

He also asserted that he still does not process having won that medal.
