US court definitively dismissed charges against diplomat Alex Saab

The US justice finally dismissed the charges against Venezuelan diplomat Alex Saab.

The decision was signed by Judge Robert Scola, of a federal court in South Florida, and was approved one day after the U.S. Government submitted a request to dismiss the case.

In this regard, Scola specified that the accusation against Saab was dismissed without prejudice, “in accordance with an executive grant of clemency signed by President Joseph R. Biden, Jr., on December 15, 2023".

Saab was arrested in 2020 in Cape Verde, without an arrest warrant from Interpol or the African government and then extradited to the United States in October 2021.
