This Monday, during a meeting with the media, the former president of Uruguay José “Pepe” Mujica announced that he has a tumor in his esophagus, explaining that his case is “doubly complex” because of his immune disease, which causes him difficulties to undergo chemotherapy.

“In my life, more than once the grim grim reaper roamed around the cot, but it continued to shepherd me. This time it seems to me that it comes with the scythe in stripe, and we'll see what happens,” Mujica said.

Likewise, in the midst of the complex situation, the 88-year-old former president reaffirmed that “as long as I can, I will continue to militate and entertain myself with vegetables. As long as the roll holds up, I'm going to keep going.”

“I want to convey to girls and boys that life is beautiful, but it wears out and falls away. The point is to start over every time you fall, and if there is anger, let them transform it into hope. No one is saved alone,” he told the press.
