- The student Luis Beltrán García was killed by a police officer when he was returning from a party in the Chuparín neighborhood, in the company of his friends Luis Marval, Arcadio Salazar and Silverio González.
- The group of students was intercepted in front of the Ondas Porteñas radio station and questioned by law enforcement officers to show their identity documents and give a reason for their movement in the area at that time of the morning.
- After the interrogation, they continued their journey when they were surprised again by the police patrol. To evade the agents, they took another route at a fast pace and, not listening to the loud voice, the agents opened fire where the young Luis Beltrán García was struck dead.
- The bullet, according to the medical report, penetrated through the back, puncturing the third vertebra and also the colon. Despite the efforts of the doctors at Doctor Luis Razetti Hospital, the young man was unable to survive.
- That same day, agents of the General Directorate of Police (Digepol) raided without a warrant the house of the Urredist leader Domingo Guzmán Lander, who strongly protested the irregular procedure and reported the murder of the young Urredist at the hands of the state police.
- As Eastern Venezuela was an important stronghold of the URD, Romulo Betancourt's maneuvers to violently attack selective targets of that party to weaken their ancestry and moral strength in the area were exposed.
- Meanwhile, in Caracas, the repressive wave against workers, public workers and students claimed the life of worker Samuel Sánchez Álvarez and left eight demonstrators protesting against the mass dismissal measures enacted by Betancourt in a state of gravity.
