The minimum urban transport fare in Venezuela registered a new fare change of 230 bolivars starting this Sunday, November 1, said Adolfo Alfonso, president of the Carabobo State Transport Union.

Alfonso explained that this amount is equivalent to US$0.25 according to the official rate of the Central Bank of Venezuela (BCV), and corresponds to the monthly update scheme agreed between national authorities and representatives of the transport sector.

In this regard, as reported by the Venezuelan News Agency (AVN), this adjustment preserves the value of the rate agreed in March to mitigate the inflationary impact on the operating costs of the service and maintains an additional 20% surcharge on Sundays, holidays and night hours.

In addition, the benefit of the 50% discount for students was recalled, while older citizens keep the total exemption from paying for the ticket.

This update represents an increase of 10 bolivars compared to the rate applied in October, which stood at 220 bolivars.
