Until next Monday, taxes may be canceled for vehicles in Caracas

Until March 31, owners of motorcycles, cars, cargo vehicles, taxis, public, private or school transport who reside in the different municipalities of Caracas have a deadline to cancel the vehicle tax that is established by each mayor's office in the country.

The general director of Procedures and Permits of the Municipal Superintendency of Administration and Collection, an entity attached to the Mayor's Office of the Libertador municipality, Yherilee Alvarado, indicated that those who do not cancel on time must pay a fine equivalent to double the amount corresponding to their vehicle.

He explained that, as established in the Vehicle Tax Ordinance, published in Municipal Gazette No. 5001-A, in November 2023, the amounts to be canceled in the Libertador municipality vary according to the type of motor vehicle and are calculated in dynamic account units (UCD).” This refers to the currency that has the highest exchange rate value according to information published by the Central Bank of Venezuela, which is currently the euro.”

Motorcycles, depending on the engine capacity, have to cancel between 5 and 10 UCD; private vehicles, between 10 and 30 UCD; passenger cars, 32-36 UCD and heavy-duty vehicles must pay between 100 and 120 UCD, Alvarado said.

How to pay in Libertador. To cancel, vehicle owners must log in to caracas.sigat.net and attach the certificate of origin, driving license or title to the vehicle, Unified Tax Information Register (RIF) and creditworthiness of the receipt of the last vehicle tax payment.

If you come from another municipality, payment can also be made through the ticket offices located in the Glorieta building, located on the corner of the same name, Santa Teresa parish, in the center of Caracas. You can pay with mobile payment or transfer.

Once the payment is made, the taxpayer must download their return with the payment stamp, which must be submitted when requested by the competent authorities.

Other municipalities

In the Baruta municipality, the user must enter the Autonomous Tax Administration Service online, enter their data and, if they are a new user, they must create their profile and follow the instructions to download the form and make the payment by transfer. You can also pay at the office, located in the Business Center, Torre Humboldt, he explains on his Instagram account.

In the Sucre municipality, citizens must go to the website of the Decentralized Tax Administration Service (Sedat) and attach the vehicle documentation. The payment is made via transfer or mobile payment. It will also be served at the Taxpayer Services Office, located in Los Dos Caminos, Plaza Miranda Civic Center, Sedat building.

In Chacao, payment is made through the website of the Chacao Virtual Office. You can also go to the Tax Administration Office, located on Sorocaima Street, between Tamanaco and Venezuela avenues, Torre Atrium building and pay at the box office.
