At an event held in the Hall of Shields of the Federal Legislative Palace, the Bolivarian University of the Communes (UBC), in alliance with the National Assembly (AN), the Office of the Comptroller General of the Republic, the National Superintendency of Internal Audit and the National Body against Corruption and the Carlos Escarrà Malave Training School, launched the Diploma in Social Comptroller's Office.
This training initiative responds to the need to strengthen the exercise of the Social Comptroller's Office by the Popular Power, as a fundamental tool for transparency and the fight against corruption in Venezuela. The diploma course emerged as a result of a series of discussions held by the above-mentioned institutions, following the enactment in 2023 of the reform to the Organic Law of the Social Comptroller's Office.
In this regard, the deputy Gabriela Peña, president of the Subcommittee on People's Power of the AN, explained that in this first court, trainers are being trained as trainers, facilitators who will later go to each of their communities and communes in the country.
“Today we have 11 learning communities where all spokeswomen and spokespersons can participate.” He added that “165 participants have already registered to fight the battle that belongs to all of us, which we are fighting today in Venezuela, against bureaucratism and corruption, we must raise the moral power that the liberator Simón Bolívar spoke of and continue to deepen participatory and leading democracy.”
Finally, Peña indicated that they will continue to disseminate the Organic Law of the Social Comptroller's Office “and thus promote the exercise of the Social Comptroller's Office as an area of action of the Popular Power, which opens doors for the control of public, popular and private management, by the organized people and all citizens.” He invited the population to visit the website of the Bolivarian University of the Communes https://ubc.org.ve/ to learn more about this legal instrument.
For his part, Richard Delgado, Deputy Minister of Educational Communities and Union with the People of the Ministry of University Education and rector of the UBC, highlighted the effort and cohesion of the institutions involved in the birth of this great achievement. “The diploma course consists of 144 academic hours and is specialized and comprehensive so that trainee trainees acquire the necessary knowledge to exercise control, auditing, monitoring and control action in order to prevent the scourge of corruption.”
It should be noted that the first Cohort of this program aims to train future facilitators who will guide the next stages. This initiative responds to a joint effort between the People's Power, the Executive Power, the Legislative Power and the Moral Power, as part of the fight against corruption, a task that concerns everyone as a society.
