The spokesman for the United Nations Children's Fund (UNICEF), James Elder, reported that more than 200 children have been killed and 1,100 were injured in Lebanon due to Israel 's attacks against the Arab nation in the last two months.
“Their deaths are greeted with inertia by those who are able to stop this violence. For the children of Lebanon, horror became a silent normalization,” said spokesman Elder, this Tuesday at a press conference in Geneva.
According to the Fuser News website, Elder noted that there are “chilling similarities” between the conflicts in Lebanon and the Gaza Strip, where a significant part of the more than 43,000 deaths are reported to be children.
The recent Israeli
attacks in Lebanon have caused more than 3,500
deaths and around 15,000 injuries. The situation is
extremely serious, with significant damage to infrastructure
and a large number of displaced persons.
