The United Nations Children's Fund (UNICEF) confirmed that the number of children killed in the Gaza Strip amounts to 351 people, so the agency's regional director for the Middle East and North Africa, Edouard Beigbeder, demanded that the authorities of the Zionist state of Israel provide transparent accountability and effective measures against this level of violence.
The humanitarian emergency in the area continues to worsen with a record of 800,000 displaced children and nearly 60,000 orphans of one or both parents. In addition, the collapse of the local health system, caused by continued attacks, prevents proper medical and psychological care for child survivors.
For its part, an independent commission of the United Nations (UN) formally accused the forces of the Zionist state of Israel of deliberately attacking Palestinian children, describing these actions as genocide, war crimes and crimes against humanity.
This situation evidences the continuous deterioration of the humanitarian crisis in the territory and the urgent need to guarantee the international protection of children affected by the conflict.
