In a statement, the Executive Director of the United Nations Children's Fund (UNICEF), Catherine Russell, last Tuesday, rejected Israel's attacks on Gaza where more than 130 have been among the victims.

“The reports and images that emerge from the Gaza Strip after today's attacks are more than horrifying and hundreds of people have died, including more than 130 children, in one of the highest numbers of child victims on a single day last year,” he said according to information published by Hispantv.

The head of UNICEF criticized that “some of the attacks hit makeshift shelters where children and their families were sleeping, another deadly reminder that nowhere in Gaza is safe.”

Russell recalled that these attacks occurred at a time when the entry of humanitarian aid to Gaza continues to be blocked after more than half a month has passed since the last truck with aid crossed the enclave, “which aggravates the risks for children”.

He also added that the power supply to the main desalination plant has been cut off, which has significantly reduced the amount of drinking water.
