The United Nations Security Council (UN) will meet on January 23 to address the situation in Palestine and the regional repercussions of the conflict between the occupying power Israel and the Palestinian Resistance movement Hamas, said the French ambassador to the UN, Nicolas de Riviere.

“On January 23, we are going to have a high-level meeting that will focus on the Palestinian question but also on the regional environment,” Riviere was quoted as saying by the Sputnik news agency.

This meeting will have an open debate, where ministers from the Middle East and other countries have been invited to participate.

The Palestinian territories of the Gaza Strip and the West Bank are under Israeli aggression that has left more than 21,800 dead since last October 7, in retaliation for the operation “Al-Aqsa Flood” of the Palestinian resistance group to Hamas in southern Israel in which it executed more than 1,000 people and kidnapped more than 200.

Hamas described its attack as a response to the aggressive actions of the Israeli authorities against the Al-Aqsa Mosque, as well as the continuing attacks of the occupying power against the people of Palestine.
