UN Secretary General Demands Immediate Ceasefire in Lebanon

This Tuesday, Secretary General of the United Nations (UN), António Guterres, called for an immediate ceasefire in Lebanon and reiterated that the entire United Nations system in the country is mobilized to help people in need, as reported by the spokesman, Stéphane Dujarric.
“The Secretary General is extremely concerned about the escalation of the conflict in Lebanon. It calls for an immediate ceasefire. A total war in Lebanon must be avoided at all costs and the sovereignty and territorial integrity of Lebanon must be respected,” Dujarric said in reading the statement.
Guterres also told Lebanese Prime Minister Najib Mikati that “the entire United Nations system in Lebanon is mobilized to help all those in need in the country.”
