The General Assembly of the United Nations (UN) approved a new resolution demanding the end of the economic, commercial and financial blockade applied by the United States (USA) against Cuba, reaching the support of 130 nations against 17 votes against and 25 abstentions.

During the multilateral debate, the island's Minister of Foreign Affairs, Bruno Rodríguez Parrilla, rejected actions of diplomatic coercion aimed at changing the direction of the vote, according to information published by Prensa Latina on its website.

The representative of Cuban diplomacy noted that unilateral measures cause severe damage to the daily lives of families, affecting regular access to energy services, medical supplies and food products.

In addition, the participating delegations ratified the need to respect the principles of sovereignty and self-determination, urging the fulfilment of international mandates to guarantee peaceful coexistence among nations.
