This Monday, April 22, the Supreme Court of Justice (TSJ) appointed the opposition deputy, José Brito, as president of the Ad Hoc Board of Directors of the First Justice (PJ) party, with the purpose of carrying out a process of restructuring that political organization.
According to decision No. 0207 issued by the Supreme Court, the board will also consist of "a Deputy National Coordinator, a Secretary General, an Assistant Secretary General and a Secretary of Organization, who carry out the management and representative functions of the said organization”.
In addition, the Ad Hoc Board of Directors may make use of the electoral card, the logo, symbols, emblems, colors and any other concept specific to that political party; as well as it may organize internal consultations necessary for the updating or modification of the party's statutes.
In view of this, the Supreme Court ordered the National Electoral Council (CNE), on a provisional basis, to “refrain from accepting any application for electoral processes that is not agreed in accordance with the strict procedures, by the Ad Hoc Board of Directors”.
It is important to note that these actions of the Supreme Court respond to the amparo measure introduced last March 15 by opponents José Brito and Conrado Pérez, in which they requested that I inform them of the status of the PJ party and specify if that organization was in a position to run for candidates for the presidential elections of 2024.
