Members of the Trujillo State Police Force were able to apprehend a subject identified as Rangel Y., allegedly involved in the cases of poisoning registered in schools in the state.

According to the publication of the newspaper Última Noticias, the procedure was carried out in the Morón sector of the Valera municipality, during patrolling work.

In this regard, the officers reported that “the suspect was riding a motorcycle and, upon realizing the police presence, tried to flee, being intercepted on the spot.”

During the field inspection, authorities seized two tear gas grenades, poison for rodents, a bag containing chemical powder, a container of oven cleaners, three containers containing chlorine, the motorcycle-type vehicle and a cell phone.

For their part, officials from the Venezuelan Institute for Scientific Research (IVIC) and Trujillo Civil Protection determined that the seized items match the substances used in the campuses.

“The telephone team succeeded in evidencing content related to the attacks perpetrated on Educational Units in the state of Trujillo with chemical substances that are related to the MP-86997-2026 investigation of the Ninth Public Prosecutor's Office; a link was also found to the criminal structure El Cagón,” the official minutes reported.
