In the state of Trujillo, the Festival of Four was held in homage to this popular Venezuelan instrument with the participation of more than 200 players from the 19 groups of the National System of Youth and Children's Orchestras and Choirs together with the student of the chair of Cuatro at the Laudelino Mejías School of Music.

The activity took place in the Los Ilustres park in the Valera municipality, where children, young people and adults interpreted various themes including potpourri, waltz, polka and Venezuelan passages.

Luis Coronado, state manager of the Venezuelan National System of Youth and Children's Orchestras and Choirs, highlighted that the four is an emblematic instrument of Venezuela that has transcended borders in recent years massively.

“More than 200 performers of the four, including children and adults, who come from the 19 centers of the National System of Youth and Children's Orchestras and Choirs of Venezuela, came together to form a beautiful orchestra of four, with a peculiarity, because in the performance we can hear repertoires of Venezuelan popular music and Trujillo composers,” he said.

In addition, he described the event as a beautiful musical show maintaining the motto of maestro José Antonio Abreu to play, sing and fight.

For its part, the sole authority of Culture, Temistocles Cabezas, mentioned that the National Day of the Four was decreed a year ago by President Nicolás Maduro and as a national heritage on April 9, 2013, which are reasons to celebrate the Festival of the Four.

He added that four has always been present in Venezuelan culture and in Trujillo. Cabezas also announced the creation of the Cambur Pintón Music School in the 20 municipalities of Trujillo state, instructed by the Minister of Popular Power for Culture, Ernesto Villegas.

It should be noted that, as a prelude to this concert, the Cultural Cabinet, the Red Art Foundation and the Institute of Culture and the Arts held two talks referring to the Venezuelan four in various educational institutions in the Valera municipality, with the purpose of familiarizing children and young people with the pedagogy of this versatile instrument.
