China recorded 135 million domestic trips during the New Year holidays, following reports issued by the Asian giant's Ministry of Culture and Tourism.

According to the information, the statistics between December 30 and January 1 are 155.3 percent higher than those of the same period last year and 9.4 percent above the 2019 figure, prior to COVID-19 regulations.

According to the authorities, total revenues in the tourism market in these three days exceeded 79,730 million yuan (about 11.27 billion dollars).

This doubles the figure for the Christmas season last year and represents an increase of 5.6 percent year-on-year since 2019.

This was the first holiday at the end of the year after the country reopened after the removal of national restrictions due to the pandemic.
