The President of the Republic, Nicolás Maduro, highlighted the transfer of the remains of General Domingo Antonio Sifontes to the National Pantheon, in homage to the heroic feat of expelling the English from Venezuelan territory.

“We will award the highest military and popular honors to General Domingo Antonio Sifontes, who from today begins his heroic journey from Tumremo to the altar of the heroes of the Fatherland, the National Pantheon. Today we carry as our banner the gallantry with which he commanded the Battle of Cuyuní and expelled the English who occupied our territory. Honor and Glory!” , the head of state reported on his account on the social network X.

The message is accompanied by audiovisual material in which the General Commander of the Bolivarian Army, M/G José Antonio Murga announced the possible transfer of the remains of General Domingo Antonio Sifontes to the National Pantheon, following the instructions of the Commander in Chief of the Bolivarian National Armed Forces (FANB), Nicolás Maduro.

“We are in Tumremo, Sifontes municipality of Bolívar state, the FANB in perfect civic-military union. We are with the chronicler Rafael Antonio Velásquez, and so we are dusting off the pages of history to take our General Domingo Antonio Sifontes, hero of the Fatherland, soon to the National Pantheon where the corresponding honors will be paid to him. A hero who commanded the Cuyuní incident on January 2, 1895, which was the definitive expulsion of the English,” said Murga.
