The women's futsal team solved a very physical match and, with a shot from Valezka Gutiérrez, they won the 1-0 victory over Senegal, clearing the way to the semifinals.

Venezuela had lost 5-4 in overtime in its debut against Ukraine and was forced to beat the local team to avoid elimination.

The first time of the game was generated by Senegal with a powerful shot from its most mobile player, Mariama Faty, who pulled out a right-wing bombing covered by the agility to fly from the Creole archer Antonella Mejía.

The national quintet responded immediately through a one-man team led by the center and captain María Briceño. He dribbled to the defense, took out the goalkeeper with a belt, but his goal scream was silenced by defender Haby Barro, walled up in the right downspout.

He had another clearer chance with a free kick from defender Valeska Gutierrez that burned the hands of goalkeeper Awa Balde.

Two consecutive shots and the omnipresent Faty and Haby Barro forced Mejía's saving appearance again under the three sticks.

Victoria Colmenárez enjoyed two consecutive options, when she stole a pair of balls, she was left in the open field, but the shots were met with effective interventions by Balde.
