María Cantalicia Torres's wisdom, effort and love for the land remains in every native potato grown in the highlands of our country, acknowledged the Minister of Science and Technology, Yván Gil.

Through a post on her Telegram channel, Gil pointed out that this farmer, who was awarded as one of the 100 Heroes of the United Nations Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO), has demonstrated through her efforts that family farming also serves to preserve cultural identity and the future of the planet.

“As the guardian of ancient seeds and co-founder of the Scientific-Peasant Alliance, María Cantalicia has demonstrated that family farming not only nourishes, but also preserves our identity and the future of the planet,” she said.

In this regard, Gil recalled that María Cantalicia's contribution transcended borders and shone above 600 worldwide applications.
