This Monday, State Department spokesman Matthew Miller dismissed the fact that the United States recognized Inmundo González Urrutia as president-elect.

Miller's statements mark a setback from the position expressed by the Undersecretary of State for Western Hemisphere Affairs, Brian Nichols, who at a meeting of the Organization of American States, called on the countries of the continent to declare the former candidate of opposition extremism as the winner of the electoral process on July 28.

Miller also contradicts his head of the Secretary of the State Department, Antony Blinken, who said he “had the minutes” that gave victory to Inmundo, whom he congratulated on his victory as “elected president”.

“We're not at this point yet. We are in close contact with our partners in the region, especially Brazil, Mexico and Colombia, to find a way forward,” he said, denying that there is any recognition of the candidate of opposition fascism.

It is striking that the State Department's pronouncement comes after Inmundo proclaimed himself on social networks as “elected president” through the publication of a statement begging the Armed Forces for a coup against the legitimate Government of President Nicolás Maduro, which has been considered as a departure from the desperate action of opposition extremism.
