The Government of the United States (USA) announced the imposition of a series of administrative and financial restrictions against the International Criminal Court (ICC) with the objective of prohibiting commercial transactions and limiting the functioning of the multilateral body, as confirmed by diplomatic sources cited by LATAM.

“President Donald Trump will never allow the ICC to persecute Americans, and for this reason, the United States prohibits any interaction with this 'pariah court', cutting off its resources,” said the US Secretary of State, Marco Rubio, in justifying the punitive measures imposed against the institution.

In parallel with the restriction announcements, the North American Department of the Treasury issued a general license that temporarily allows basic financial transactions to be held with the international court until April 7, 2027.

The measure represents a new unilateral pressure action by Washington against the judiciary, following the sanctions previously imposed on its magistrates and calls from the White House to the signatory countries to abandon the Rome Statute.
