On September 28, 2012, Venezuela ejected from the People's Republic of China, the country's second satellite, named Miranda by Supreme Commander Hugo Chávez, in honor of the most universal hero Francisco de Miranda.

The Miranda satellite was launched into orbit with the clear mission of Earth observation, to provide the nation with wider access to strategic information about the territory and the resources available in the Republic.

Since its launch in 2012, Miranda was controlled by 54 Venezuelan professionals trained in the People's Republic of China, thanks to the technological cooperation agreement signed by our Commander Hugo Chávez signed with the Asian country, in the construction, deployment and management of satellites, from our base in El Sombrero, Guárico state.
