On May 14, 2013, the president of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela, Nicolás Maduro, inaugurated a Mausoleum for the protection of the mortal remains of the Liberator of the Fatherland, Simon Bolivar.

The creators of this majestic work were:
Farruco Sesto, Lucas Pou, Gilberto Rodríguez and Orlando Martínez, which is attached to the National Pantheon with a height of 54 meters and covers a space of 2,000 square meters.

The Mausoleum has a capacity of 1,500 visitors where they can see the sarcophagus guarded by the monument of The Liberator, by the Italian sculptor Pietro Tenerani.

It should be noted that its inauguration coincided with the 200th anniversary of the start of the Admirable Campaign.

Its creation is the initiative of Commander Hugo Chávez, who in July 2010 decreed its construction.
