The Central University of Venezuela (UCV) was founded on December 22, 1721 by order of King Felipe V, making it one of the oldest internationally renowned institutions in Latin America.

This Studio House was located in the Santa Rosa Seminary, then it was transferred to the San Francisco Convent. In 1953 he settled in the University City of Caracas, the work of the Venezuelan architect Carlos Raúl Villanueva.

On October 31, 1969, the government of Rafael Caldera raided the UCV with Operation Cangurom, the Metropolitan Police (PM) and the former Directorate of Intelligence and Prevention Services (Disip) attacked the students of that time, taking over the spaces of the university campus, including the Botanical Garden.

On December 21, 2000, Commander Hugo Chávez returned the Botanical Garden to this university with the following words: “It is a pleasure for me to come as president and not to search, to return what is due to him. What is from Caesar to Caesar, what is from the UCV to the UCV,” he said.

In that same year, Unesco declared the UCV a World Heritage Site, being one of the most emblematic places in the world.
