On May 31, 2005, Commander Hugo Chávez awarded degrees to 20,686 high school graduates of the First Cohort of the Ribas Mission.

“It's not about training the pawn as a qualified worker so that they continue to be exploited by the capitalist,” Commander Chávez paraphrased Antonio Gramsci from the Ríos Reyna Room of the Teresa Carreño Theater.

The Leader of the Bolivarian Revolution called for continuing to build the Homeland.

“The Bolivarian project is here, here are the bases, we are building the foundations and the fundamental columns of the new republic, of the fifth republic, the Ribas Mission is an engine, it is encouragement, it is food, it is future, it is strength for the construction of the Bolivarian prophecy, we cannot choose between winning or dying, it is necessary to overcome, long live Venezuela! Long live the Ribas Mission!” , highlighted.

The Ribas Mission was created on November 17, 2003 at the initiative of Supreme Commander Hugo Chávez. Along with the educational missions Robinson (literacy and primary education) and Sucre (university education), it adds up to the three educational programs created during the Bolivarian Revolution to support people who were excluded from the formal education system.
