Every January 15th, Teacher's Day is celebrated in Venezuela. This celebration dates back to 1932, when the Society of Primary Education Teachers was founded, whose main objective was to fight for the dignity and rights of educators in the country.

Four years later, in 1936, that body convened the First National Convention of Teachers and from this assembly the Venezuelan Federation of Teachers emerged. The members of the association then reached an agreement that Teacher's Day should be officially instituted.

In view of the importance that this organization acquired, on January 13, 1945, President Isaías Medina Angarita decreed Teacher's Day, every January 15, as a tribute to all Venezuelans responsible for the task of educating.
