The alleged human rights activist, Rocío San Miguel, was acting as a spy for foreign powers against the interests of our country, reported the Attorney General of the Republic, Tarek William Saab.

During a press conference held this Monday, the head of the criminal action in the country explained that after the capture, San Miguel was found 18 maps delimiting strategic security zones such as military bases and even the Miraflores Palace, which is transformed into an intelligence work carried out in a sustained manner with the support of experts in cartography and military personnel.

The prosecutor also indicated that the one arrested today was also found, on computer equipment, lists and profiles of the country's military commanders. “Explain to me why an alleged human rights activist should have this type of information. This corresponds more to the profile of an agent,” he said, in addition to highlighting that this citizen had a strict security protocol to hide electronic devices in the event that their capture occurred.

“This protocol was activated at the time of his capture, and was executed by his closest environment (who have precautionary measures and are at large), who moved these teams to various locations trying to evade justice. Their equipment was taken from Maiquetía in La Guaira, to El Marqués in Caracas; and from the capital they were then transferred to Higuerote, where they were hidden in a trunk. They ended up later in Guárico. Why do you have to do all this?” , he questioned.

He also highlighted that during the course of the investigation, San Miguel l was also found evidence of having received significant payments in dollars from a transnational oil company.

In this regard, he pointed out that the detainee was pretending to be a human rights activist to try to cover up her actions as a spy in the service of foreign powers to reveal sensitive military information.

“It highlights, for example, that you provided information to a European ambassador about the strengthening of the country's air defense systems. Why do you have to meet with a representative of a European superpower? This is information that is not publicly accessible, and that has been shared with a foreign power. Similar exchanges have been achieved with embassies of 3 other countries. The handling of this information is extremely delicate, because that is reserved. Those who have these qualities are military attachés, that has nothing to do with human rights defenders,” the Prosecutor reported.

He also reiterated that the arrest of this citizen was carried out in accordance with the provisions of our legal system and she was not the victim of any “forced disappearance”, as the right wing has tried to make you believe through social networks and the media.
