The prosecutors of the Public Ministry (MP), between August 2017 and June 2024, obtained 15,974 convictions against people linked to drug trafficking, said the head of the criminal case in the country, Tarek William Saab.

At a press conference held this Wednesday, Saab said that during the same period the Public Ministry requested the preventive seizure and then the confiscation and confiscation of numerous assets.

“Among them are 203 aircraft; 733 buildings; 6,425 vehicles; 171 vessels in addition to financial instruments, cash, weapons, ammunition, communications equipment and vehicles,” he said.

In the same way, he highlighted that between September 2022 and June 2024, the Anti-Drug Directorate, together with senior prosecutors at the national level, gave talks and street activities that addressed more than 35,149 children, adolescents and 23,169 adults.

“When we add up this figure, it gives us almost 60,000 people, including adults, young people and children, who have become aware of this matter,” he emphasized.

On the other hand, he stressed that, for the Revolutionary Government, the fight against drug trafficking is a matter of State. “I have said it and I repeat it, the countries that legalize drugs are countries that have an alliance with the drug cartels,” he said.
