The President of the Republic, Nicolás Maduro, swore an oath with the sword of the Liberator Simon Bolivar, with which he fought the battles of the entire Admirable Campaign in Colombia and that when he entered Venezuelan lands in 1813, he gave it to the heroine of Tachirense María Carmen Ramírez de Briceño.

In that sense, he argued that this Campaign “brought the strength of the Liberator (...) and I carry the sword of Simon Bolivar to do justice and build the Republic and to free the People”.

He took the oath of office in the municipality of San Cristóbal in the state of Táchira, where the people confirmed their support for his re-election as Head of State of Venezuela, on July 28.

The governor of the state of Táchira, Freddy Bernal, presented the aforementioned sword to the candidate of the Fatherland, who together with the people of Tachira took the oath to guarantee sufficient strength for the victory of July 28, in the Presidential Election.

He also gave him as a gift a Deportivo Táchira Football Club jacket, which he put on immediately, as well as a wooden carving of the Santo Cristo de La Grita.

“I have been a devotee of Santo Cristo de La Grita for many years and I will soon visit him. Thank you very much, it's going to my house,” he said.
