The Supreme Court of Justice (TSJ), this Friday, October 16, reported that, in the Plenary Chamber session held on October 13, 2026, Resolution No. 2026-0010 was approved, which restructures the organization of the Special Courts of First Instance with competence in crimes related to terrorism, belonging to the Criminal Judicial Circuit of the Metropolitan Area of Caracas.
In a statement, they explained that the decision abolishes the special national jurisdiction of four supervisory courts. In this way, the corresponding ordinary courts will assume current and future cases, in strict accordance with the Organic Code of Criminal Procedure (COPP).
“Its purpose is to avoid the concentration of these processes, to guarantee the principle of natural justice and to strengthen judicial control of accusations, preventing disproportionate criminal qualifications and ensuring due process and the right to defense,” the letter states.
They also indicated that the resolution represents an important step in the transformation of the judicial system. “The Supreme Court remains on the path of seeking and consolidating fair mechanisms for citizens,” he said.
